March-A-Thon
This Thursday after school, we will need some parent and student volunteers to deliver the door hangers along the parade route. This is how we are able to raise even more money on the day of the March-A-Thon. Students can receive volunteer hours for NHS and other requirements. Click HERE to sign-up.
We need 4 parent drivers and 4 students for each parent vehicle (16 students total) from 4:30-6:00pm. Parent drivers will transport the students along the March-A-Thon Parade route, and the students will deliver door hangers to the houses so that they can order a personal concert for the day of the event.
Also, good news! If you have not made your personal $250 goal, we are extending the deadline for individual donations! Remember that business sponsorships are now closed. Please continue to share the materials to collect individual donations up until we actually march the event on Saturday, September 25.
Band Fees – Payment Option
If you chose the payment option for band fees back at registration in August, the next payment is due this Tuesday, September 15. Payments can either be dropped in the band safe or mailed to this address:

Thursday, September 23
Varsity Football Game: RHS @ Nimitz Joy and Ralph Ellis Stadium
Our 4th football game performance will be an away game on a Thursday night. This will be the first time the GEB will be in full marching uniforms! Students will need to bring their compression shirts, GEB shorts, and long black socks to wear with the MTX marching shoes.
Remember: Full uniform means no jewelry, and only natural hair color tones allowed. Any visible piercings will need to be removed and/or replaced with clear studs if necessary. No finger rings, watches, bracelets, etc. will be permitted while in marching uniform. Please make plans now so that this is not a surprise on the 23rd of September.
Parents: we would love to have you in the stands cheering on the GEB as we add to our show each week!
Friday, September 24
State-wide Eligibility Check
Even though we are on a 9 week grading period, UIL mandates that all Texas school districts do an eligibility check at the end of the first 6 weeks of the school year. Students must be passing all (non AP) classes with a minimum grade of 70 in order to be eligible for the competition marching show.
Saturday, September 25
March-A-Thon 5k
We march through the neighborhood collecting the last bit of donations along the route and fulfilling our pledges for corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and home concerts. We have a great time marching and playing out in the community that supports us!
Monday, October 11
Special Marching Band Rehearsal – 8:30-11:30am
The weekend before UIL Region 20 Marching Contest, there is no school on Friday and Monday. In addition, on the day of UIL, there will be a PSAT administration on campus that includes most Juniors and some Sophomores. Because of these rehearsal constraints, we have a special morning marching rehearsal on Monday, October 11. There is no school this day, but this rehearsal is an integral part of our success at UIL.
