Homecoming Parade

RHS Students will be dismissed from school at 2:00pm. GEB students should report to the Band Hall to change into Summer Uniforms and get instruments. We will have 2 buses shuttle the students to Heights Elementary. The parade will start at 4pm and conclude by 5pm.

The RHS Homecoming Parade supports the RISD Clothes Closet. Therefore, they ask that all participants bring 1 package of new, unopened socks or underwear to donate. We will have a collection bin set up in the band hall this week. Donations are due by the start of the parade. Let’s get 100% participation in this beneficial, fun event!

Homecoming Performance

Halftime will be a bit different this week. The Homecoming Court will be introduced and recognized. Therefore, the GEB will perform our show before the game kickoff! Parents/Spectators: Please be in the stands by 6:30pm to see the show and support the GEB this week!

March-A-Thon

We have a couple more days before we need all corporate sponsorships for the March-A-Thon. All corporate sponsorships and corporate logos in vector file are due this Wednesday, September 8. Please email marchathon@richardsonband.org if you have landed a corporate sponsorship at any time this year. Include the contact information for the business so that we can coordinate the logos for all of our print materials for the event.

All marchers will receive a March-A-Thon T-shirt for the event. If you would like to order additional T-shirts, you must do so online by Wednesday, September 8. Click HERE to order online!

Good news! If you have not made your personal $250 goal, we are extending the deadline for individual donations (non-corporate sponsorships)! Please continue to share the materials for individual donations up until we actually march the event on September 25.

The March-A-Thon is a big part of why RHS has the lowest band fees in the district, and we want to keep it that way…but everyone must do their part to make it a success! We ask each student to reach a personal goal of $250 in pledges between corporate sponsorships and personal networks.

Spirit Wear

Click HERE for a sample band spirit wear shirt. Please contact Monette Irwin (irwinam@me.com) if you would like to purchase one, and include your size. We only have a few left, but if there is enough interest we could order some more. They cost $16 for size small through XL and $20 for two XL through four XL.

Band Fees – Payment Option

If you chose the payment option for band fees back at registration in August, the next payment is due on September 15. Payments can either be dropped in the band safe or mailed to this address:

Richardson Area Band Club (this is who checks should be written to)

PO Box 832919

Richardson, TX 75083-2919

Please email richardsonbandtreasurer@gmail.com with questions regarding payments.

Looking Ahead…

All-Region Jazz Auditions

Varsity Football Game: RHS @ Nimitz Joy and Ralph Ellis Stadium

Our 4th football game performance will be an away game on a Thursday night. This will be the first time the GEB will be in full marching uniforms! Students will need to bring their compression shirts, GEB shorts, and long black socks to wear with the MTX marching shoes. Parents: we would love to have you in the stands cheering on the GEB as we add to our show each week!

Friday, September 24

State-wide Eligibility Check

Even though we are on a 9 week grading period, UIL mandates that all Texas school districts do an eligibility check at the end of the first 6 weeks of the school year. Students must be passing all (non AP) classes with a minimum grade of 70 in order to be eligible for the competition marching show.

Saturday, September 25

March-A-Thon 5k

We march through the neighborhood collecting the last bit of donations along the route and fulfilling our pledges for corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and home concerts. We have a great time marching and playing out in the community that supports us!

Let’s make it a great week!

Mr. Bronson
