FREE Leadership Training Session 01/23
If you are currently on the GEB leadership team or see yourself auditioning for leadership in the future, check out this FREE clinic presented by SASI. Click on the link to register (Saturday, January 23 from 10AM-12 PM or 1 PM-3PM). Registration may be full as this is offered to all students in Texas but if it’s not, make sure to sign-up!
All Region Entry Fees Reminder
The entry fee for all-region is $16. Students who auditioned for all-region in the fall will be receiving invoices for that amount. Please turn in payment to the band safe or pay online ASAP (checks should be made out to RABC).
Sectionals Information Reminder
Sectionals are in full session for all four bands. Please read through communication sent by primary director for schedule. Please note that in-person sectionals are required for Face-to-Face students. Virtual students have the option to attend via Zoom or Face-to-Face (in-person is preferred when possible). Failure to attend sectionals either in person or through Zoom will result in a zero.
Concerto Competition Information Reminder
Students enrolled in private lessons should be working on a solo now that the All-Region process has concluded. Students not involved in lessons are also highly encouraged to learn a solo (please contact primary director for help). In February, students will then have the wonderful opportunity to audition for the Richardson High School Howard Dunn Concerto Competition. Some of the perks of this opportunity include:
improvement of technical and musical skills.
performing for the directors (and working through any performance anxiety)
receiving a monetary award ($50-$100) towards the 2021-2022 band fees for students who advance to the FINAL round.
building your resume
playing your instrument, which is just plain FUN!
PRELIMS – Students will submit videos through Flipgrid by Tuesday, February 16th at 11:59 PM (Flipgrid information to come). Accompanists are not required for the Prelims round.
FINALS – Students who advance to the final round will perform in the auditorium (with accompanist) on Tuesday, February 23rd. Students and families will follow safety protocols as we did for the winter concert.
Winners of the 11th-12th division will be then be featured in the RISD Showcase in May.
