Symphonic Winds (Mr. Schmuck) – Green Tickets
Wind Symphony/Jazz Band (Mr. Marquez) – Purple Tickets

Students will receive both tickets during their upcoming evening rehearsals.

Guests WILL NOT be officially screened at the concert similar to RISD athletic events. Individual pre-screening by family members/friends will need to be done prior to attending the concert. Guests will enter the large gym through the main doors (right side) and will quickly exit at the conclusion of their performer’s portion of the concert through the main doors (left side). All guests are to socially distance and wear a mask CORRECTLY at all times.

Students WILL be screened and will enter through the band hall doors, wear a mask, apply hand sanitizer, and then head to the large gym through the school while keeping a 6-foot distance (including during the performance). The only time for students to not wear a mask is during the performance (wind players). Students will take their case and music to the large gym with them.

As a reminder, once the student has completed their portion of the performance, they will need to leave with their family/guests.

Families with multiple students in the program will need to exit and re-enter the facility each time.

In order to keep things as contactless as possible, we will not be providing physical programs; there will be QR codes available for your convenience.

Mr. Vega will be the administrator on duty for the concert.

Seating:

Both sides of bleachers will be available for seating.

Every other row will be taped off with caution tape. Families/friends will need to socially distance and stay in groups.

In between performances, chairs/stands will be sanitized for the students.

Students will not wear hats, sunglasses or jewelry. Long hair should be pulled back out of their face in a pony tail. This will make us look uniformed. Students may have their phones to make calls once the game concludes. However, students will not be allowed to be on their phones during the game. A tweet will also be sent out (@RHSGEB) at the conclusion of the game that will also show up on the band website.
Plastic water bottles will be provided to all students. STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PASS WATER BOTTLES TO EACH OTHER. Our parent volunteers will be the only people allowed to pass out water to each student (while wearing gloves). Students must drink all water before receiving a new water bottle (when needed). We will have bags to recycle plastic bottles at the end of the night. Again, each student will place their empty bottle in bag as volunteers come around.

Honors Level Band Requirements Reminder

The Honors student must complete the following by Monday, December 14th.

Exhibit an advanced level of participation, skills, fundamentals and performance.

Attend two professional performances (in-person or virtual) or other performances approved in advance by the director each semester in the student’s respective Honors area. Documentation of these performances will include a program/print out and a minimum two page critique of each performance. The paper must be typed 12 point, Times New Roman font, double-spaced and must reflect the writing quality, content, and construction expected of an Honors student. Content must include a summary of the performance, historical references, analysis of the music performed, and a personal reflection on the performance and its influence on the listener.

Attend one fall and one spring concert at your campus in the other music areas. EX: If I’m an band honors student I would attend an orchestra concert in the fall and a choir concert in the spring on my campus, or vice versa. This may be completed virtually if in-person concerts are not allowed. Should there be extenuating circumstances, directors may provide a suitable alternate assignment for credit. Proof of attendance is the only required completion component for credit. These concerts are in addition to the two professional performances listed above and may not be used to complete both. If health regulations and RISD guidelines do not allow for in-person performances students will work with their director to develop an alternate form of completion. You can substitute this requirement for another professional concert as there are limited tickets provided to students in the district.

Prepare all of the TMEA All Region audition materials during the fall. Students will be expected to perform in their entirety each etude/piece for a director. This may be done live, via google classroom, or zoom. This will be done prior to the actual TMEA audition and at the director’s discretion. Audition for All Region during the fall. (This will be done virtually)

Participate in the Richardson Chamber Music Festival as a solo performer and as part of an ensemble.

Band Fees Reminder

Please continue to make payments (if you have not done so). This is very important to the financial responsibility and operations of the band program. All fees MUST be paid by Monday, December 14th.

You can pay to the band safe (in the band hall) or online. As a reminder, you CAN make partial payments both in person or online (click on the pencil on the invoice for online). If you have any questions or need your invoice again, please contact our treasurer at richardsonbandtreasurer@gmail.com.
