TWIGEB (04/06/20-04/11/20)

Happy Monday GEB!

Below you will find all of the details for this week (04/06/20-04/11/20).

Going into week 3, you all have two very easy assignments! First, you are to practice your major scales and get them performance-ready (even tempo, vibrato, if applicable, etc). You will then select 2-4 of those major scales and post them on the GEB Flipgrid provided – flipgrid.com/richardsonband. Make sure to use your g.risd email. As always be professional, wear proper school attire and support one another. We, the directors, love this assignment because you will be able to see all of your friends perform from all 4 bands!

The second assignment is to fill out the following google form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe3CYZaBxV0nWaUoD-Wfwg_RDRmeDm4rS_D7y9EMLIVTONWYw/viewform?pli=1

As a band program, this will help us grow and create a common language to focus on pulse, rhythm, and subdivision. It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Don’t worry – almost ALL of it will be a review for you, and you’ll be able to follow along very easily.

Both assignments are due on Friday, April 10th by 11:59 PM.

For your convenience, here is the audition music/scales once again:

As a friendly reminder, make sure you are reaching out to your private lesson teachers for additional help, if you have not already done so.

Spring Trip Update

Due to changes in Southwest Airlines policy, flight transfers (as originally stated) will not be allowed…BUT…I have better news! We will have a credit as a band and will be using it next year as we have been approved to go to Disney/Universal Studios!

This is how refunds will work:

Every band student/parent chaperone will only lose $38 from the spring trip.

If you have any outstanding band fees, any payments made towards the spring trip will first cover those band fees, then refunds will be distributed.

If you are a senior, we will refund the entire amount paid for the spring trip (outside the $38 fee and any outstanding band fees).

If you are a 9th-11th grader, we will apply a credit of $315 (if paid) towards the trip for next year then refund the remaining balance (outside the $38 fee and any outstanding band fees). Again the $315 will only be able to be used for the spring trip.

Please fill out the link below with your most current address so we can ship out your check accordingly – https://forms.gle/kvmvuvZVdKBwH2ww6

All checks will be made out to the parent’s name provided, not students. In order to close out the books correctly for the school year, we will not be leaving any amount on the student’s account (except the $315 for the spring trip that was paid).

PLEASE NOTE – students who have outstanding band fees, ranging from registration fees to Chamber Music Festival fees are strongly encouraged to contact our treasurer (parent volunteer) at richardsonbandtreasurer@gmail.com. This is to avoid any surprises on refund checks. Some refunds will not cover outstanding band fees; this means you are not receiving a refund.
