Dallas Winds Invitational Windband Festival Recap
Congratulations to the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Winds for outstanding performances at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center yesterday!
The Wind Symphony was named the GRAND CHAMPION of the entire event (out of 29 bands)! They also earned the Most Outstanding Woodwind Soloist Award – Ben DiGennaro. Furthermore, the Symphonic Winds earned 7th place (the highest ranked second ensemble) and earned Most Outstanding Percussion out of the entire event!
GEB Orientation Recap
It was wonderful to see EVERYONE at the GEB Orientation – it is going to be an amazing marching season once again! I wanted to remind you of a few items:
Students should have picked up their audition music; if you did not, make sure to do so on Monday.
Parents/students – per UIL rules, students will now be REQUIRED to do a physical for the 2019-2020 school year. All students must have a physical complete before our July Camp, but it would be preferred if it was completed before our June Camp. You can go through your primary care doctor; insurance should cover the physical OR RHS will be offering an opportunity to complete a physical for $15 on Tuesday, May 21st in the RHS Freshman Gym from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM. All students should have received a flyer at the GEB Orientation. If you did not, make sure to pick it on Monday. Please see attachment for more information.

Yankee Candle Fundraiser
Treat Your Mother…Or The Special People in Your Life!
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12th and the GEB is holding a Yankee Candle fundraiser to help you honor the special people in your life. Candles and air fresheners in their favorite scents are available at a discounted rate. In addition, Rubbermaid products, Calphalon kitchenwear and lots of outdoor products are also available.

We’ll also have catalogs and order forms in the band hall on Tuesday, April 9th. This is a school-wide sale. Tell your friends – the GEB has Mother’s Day handled! Please see attachment for more information.
Band Fees
This is your friendly reminder that if you have any outstanding band fees, please make payment ASAP. Students with outstanding balances (Registration, All-Region, Chamber Music Festival, Spring Trip, etc) will not be able to attend the spring trip or receive graduation tickets just to name a few. Parents/students please email our treasurer at richardsonbandtreasurer@gmail.com for any questions regarding outstanding balances. All fees are to be paid by April 18th.
UIL Hosting Meeting/Walk-through 04/10/19
We will have a QUICK meeting right after school on Wednesday, April 10th from 4:20 PM – 5:00 PM to go over all of the details of hosting UIL. A separate email will be sent with the the list of students who will be working the event on April 16th, 17th or 18th.

RISD Career Drumline Performance 04/13/19
The drumline will be performing for the RISD Career Fair on Saturday, April 13th. Please see below for details:

Spring Trip T-Shirt Money Due 04/16/19
If you would like to purchase an optional spring trip shirt, money is due on Tuesday, April 16th. Shirts are $13 (or $11.50 for XXL and larger). Please provide money/shirt size to one of the drum majors. Please note that this purchase is not made through RABC or band directors. All money should be directed towards one of these students and NOT the band safe.
