Chamber Music Festival Results
RHS represented extremely well this today at the RISD Chamber Music Festival! 249 1st division/honor ratings were awarded!
Grades!!!
AT THE MOMENT, there is an outrageous amount of students failing at least one class. Grades are due Wednesday, March 6th. Students and parents, please check FOCUS.
Students – please turn in all assignments and make up any work ASAP! If you fail, it will make you ineligible for our Meyerson performance (WS/SW), UIL, and South Padre with NO REFUNDS of your $450 payment. YOU MUST PASS!
Dallas Winds Rehearsal 02/23/19
Did you know that the Dallas Winds (only professional wind ensemble in the US) rehearses in our band hall?! If you did not, I invite you to come and listen. Joe Alessi is the guest artist for this concert series.
SNAP Fundraiser Kickoff 02/25/19
Please see attached letter. All students are to collect 20 emails and type them on their phone (ie. notes app). Please have these emails on Monday; this will make the transfer process go smoothly a week from now.
AP Music Theory – Night at the Opera 02/27/19
The AP Music Theory class will be attending Manon Lescaut by Giacomo Puccini on Wednesday, February 27th at the Winspear Opera House.

We will be going to Buca di Beppo for dinner prior to heading to the Winspear Opera House.
AVID Drumline Performance 02/28/19
The drumline will be performing at the AVID Showcase on Thursday, February 28th from 8:20 AM – 9:00 AM. Please arrive at 8:00 AM.
Winterguard Contest 03/02/19
Our JV and Varsity Winterguard will be competing in their third contest of the season on Saturday, March 2nd at Saginaw High School. Please see below for schedule.

Concerto Competition Prelims Sign-up THIS WEEK
Richardson High School is proudly to present the Howard Dunn Richardson Area Concerto Competition! This is an event that gives students an opportunity to perform a solo which exhibits both their musicianship and training.
Students will be divided into one of two divisions:
9th/10th grade
11th/12th grade
Three winners from each division will receive a band department scholarship. There must be a minimum of three entries for each of the high school divisions, otherwise, there will only be one division of 9th-12th grade. A sign-up sheet will located at the front of the band hall THIS week.
In addition, one winner from the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Winds will be awarded a certificate of recognition.
Prizes
1st place- $100.00
2nd place- $75.00
3rd place- $50.00
Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Winds winners – $50.00
Eligibility and Rules
• Entrants must have performed at the RISD Chamber Music Festival and received an honors/1st division rating or have director permission.
• Entrants must supply their own accompanist. Accompanists are optional for prelims but REQUIRED for finals with pieces that have an accompaniment.
• Entrants may perform a minimum of one movement of a multi-movement work or a short concert piece.
• Entrants must supply TWO photocopies of the solo work to Mr. Reyna’s box by Thursday, February 28th
• Performance time should not exceed ten (10) minutes.
• Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Symphonic Winds winners will have the option to perform at Finals.
Preliminary performances will take place on Monday, March 4th in the RHS band hall starting at 4:30 PM.
Finals performance will take place in the Richardson HS auditorium on Wednesday, March 6th starting at 6:00 PM.
