Solo and Ensemble Accompanist Rehearsals Continue THIS Week

Please check rehearsal times posted in the front of the band hall; please arrive on time and be prepared on your music. DO NOT make your accompanist wait on you.

RISD Chamber Music Festival 02/24/18

Please check preliminary performance times sent via email by Mr. Mckinney; this times will also posted in the band hall. Let Mr. Mckinney know if you notice any solo times that conflict with ensemble times.  Please understand that this schedule is very intricate, and while we will try and work with everyone’s schedule, not all conflicts can be resolved as this will displace other solo times, ensemble times, or accompanist availability. AN OFFICIAL SCHEDULE WILL BE RELEASED WEDNESDAY!

The entry fee was due to the last week. Students should have paid $5 per solo and $5 per person per ensemble Also, if you have not paid your $50 accompanist fee, you need to take care of this at your next rehearsal.

All students should have an original copy of their solo and ensemble. Measures should be numbered and name/school should be written on the front page. You will hand this to the room monitor who will hand it to the judge to look at while you perform. Make sure you are ready to introduce yourself, the piece and the composer. Students in an ensemble should elect someone to speak for the group.

Please dress nicely for this performance (Sunday Best). Do not wear jeans, flip flops, or t-shirts.  You want to not only play your best, but look your best.On the day of the contest, you will want to show up early (approximately 45 minutes before your performance time). This will allow you time to find parking, find your performance room, and warm-up. Check-in at your room prior to your performance time.  Sometimes, rooms are running ahead of schedule and you can perform early.  On the other hand, rooms could also be running behind schedule and you may have more time to warm-up.  After all of your performances have completed, you may leave. You will receive your judges sheets on Monday during your band class.

Let the directors know if you have any questions. The location for RISD Chamber Music Festival is Lake Highlands High School:
