2017 Band Registration Packet

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! The 2017 Band Registration Packet was emailed out TODAY! It includes IMPORTANT information regarding: band registration (August 5th), fees, release forms, pre-game meal options, football tickets, signs, March-a-thon (BIGGEST fundraiser of the year), summer band schedule, school registration (August 11th), PSAT/SAT/ACT test dates, 2017-2018 Calendar of Events and RABC board.

A couple of things to mention:

9th Grade Camp is from July 26th – 28th. Remember that this camp is required for all 9th graders and leadership (including attendance/logistics crew). The location for this event will be RICHARDSON WEST JH due to construction at RHS. Please wear athletic clothing, tennis shoes, sunglasses, apply sunscreen and bring your marching instrument.
Full Band Camp starts on August 1st and required for ALL students in the program (9th-12th). Please see schedule.
Band Registration is on Saturday, August 5th for both parents and students. Please see schedule for assigned times. Plan for event to last up to 2 hours and understand that our band parent volunteers work extremely hard to make it run smoothly for you.
Due to conflicts outside of our control, we will not be doing our regular outings to Main Event or Hawaiian Falls during summer band. However, we will have a Band Party for ALL STUDENTS on Friday, August 4th from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM. We will have food, movies, board games, video games and basketball – ALL FREE!!!
School Registration for all students in the program will be on Friday, August 11th. Please see schedule for assigned times.
Do not be discouraged by band fees; we have the lowest band fees in the entire region (out of 23 high schools) and there are payment plan options if needed on the day of band registration.
During the school year there are MANY volunteer opportunities and parents, we NEED your help.

Below are CHANGES/ADDITIONS to 2017-2018 Band Events List from the one provided to students in May:

March-a-thon date has changed from September 30th to September 16th.
RHS vs Pearce FOOTBALL date has changed from September 29th to September 28th.
RHS vs Berkner VOLLEYBALL performance has been added on October 17th.
Pep Rally performances have been added to September 28th, October 13th, October 27th and January 19th.
Dallas Winds Invitational Windband Festival (Wind Symphony) has been added on April 14th.
Honor Band Recording Concert (Wind Symphony) has been added on April 28th.

STUDENTS – remember that when you return for full camp on August 1st, ALL of your show music (Pre-Show, Movement I, Movement II and Movement III) is to be memorized.

We will copy these etudes as soon as they are released and will email them to you as soon as possible. You may also want to contact your lesson teacher or purchase these books.
