Pre-UIL Concert 03/30/17
All family and friends are invited to our Pre-UIL Concert on Thursday, March 30th. We will be starting off the concert with the Concert Band at 7:00 PM! Ensemble directors will communicate call-times for each band.
This concert is designed to imitate that of the UIL performance and will be different from our other concerts. There will NOT be announcements made for upcoming events, recognition of awards/soloists or descriptions of the music being performed. The announcer will only introduce the band, director and titles/composers of the pieces being played. Programs handed at the door will also be very brief in detail.
Please understand that we have HIRED three guest judges to attend and provide feedback to our students. These judges will be sitting in the balcony of the auditorium and will be making comments (into digital recorders) during the ENTIRE performance. Please DO NOT be alarmed. Anyone attending the concert must sit in the lower floor.
Our guests judges are:
John Alstrin – Director of Bands @ Prosper High School
Todd Dixon – Director of Bands @ Wylie High School
Joseph Nuñez – Director of Bands @ McKinney Boyd High School

RHS 5K Performance 04/01/17
On Saturday, April 1st, the GEB will be performing at the annual RHS 5K. This performance is required for all leadership and drumline members. If you are unable to attend, you are expected to find a substitute for this event. Any potential leadership candidates are highly encouraged to join us, and everyone else is invited to participate as well! Students will receive service hours for your time!
We will meet at 8:15 AM in the band hall with your instrument, flip folder, lyre, and any other materials you will need for a “marching band” type performance. We will do a brief warm-up and tuning sequence before heading out to our performance zone. Our portion of this event should conclude no later than 9:15 AM. On Wednesday, April 5th, we will be doing our required annual volleyball court floor building fundraiser. This event will be held at the Dallas Convention Center from 5:00 PM – 10:30 PM. We will meet after school in the RHS Band Hall, eat pizza and then head Downtown. While this is a very labor extensive fundraiser, we raise $10,000+ in less than 6 hours. This is one of the ways we are able to keep our band fees the lowest in the region and more importantly, we ALL get to bond. This is not optional an event and we need absolutely everyone!
Thank you,
Mr. Marquez
