Chamber Music Festival Recap
RHS represented extremely well this past Saturday at the RISD Chamber Music Festival! 239 1st division patches were awarded; in addition, 38 of these were honors!
Concerto Competition Prelims Sign-up
Richardson High School is proudly to present the Howard Dunn Richardson Area Concerto Competition! This is an event that gives students an opportunity to perform a solo which exhibits both their musicianship and training.
Students will be divided into one of three divisions: 7th/8th grade, 9th/10th grade, or 11th/12th grade. Three winners from each division will receive a band department scholarship. There must be a minimum of three entries for each of the high school divisions, otherwise, there will only be one division of 9th-12th grade. A sign-up sheet will located at the front of the band hall THIS week.
Prizes
1st place- $ 100.00
2nd place- $ 75.00
3rd place- $ 50.00
Eligibility and Rules
• Entrants must have performed at the RISD Chamber Music Festival and received an honors/1st division rating or have director permission.
• Entrants must supply their own accompanist. Accompanists are optional for prelims but REQUIRED for finals with pieces that have an accompaniment.
• Entrants may perform a minimum of one movement of a multi-movement work or a short concert piece.
• Entrants must supply TWO copies of the solo work to Mr. Reyna’s box by Thursday, March 2nd.
• Performance time should not exceed ten (10) minutes.
Preliminary performances will take place on Wednesday, March 8th in the RHS band hall starting at 4:30 PM.
Interested students may play pieces performed at the Chamber Music Festival or a recital.
Finals performance will take place in the Richardson H.S auditorium on Thursday, March 9th. The start time will be communicated after the prelims are completed.
