Hello GEB,
Below you will find the details for this week (01/30-02/04). Remember to always check richardsonband.org for the most updated schedule.
Last Week Events Recap
THANK YOU to all students and parents who participated/volunteered for our Mattress Palooza, Wind Symphony 8th Grade Tour, Inside RISD (Fine Arts) and Musical (Hello Dolly). The students had amazing performances AND we were able to fundraise for our program. We should know the amount earned very soon!
Marching Band Meeting Recap
Students – if you were unable to attend our marching band informational meeting last Monday, please see TWIGEB email for Spring/Summer Calendar attachment. We are excited about the 2017 marching show! A couple of things to mention regarding next year:
NEW marching uniforms have been ordered
NEW mixer, microphones, speakers have been ordered
Jeremy Spicer, SASI Leadership, will be the guest clinician to train our leadership team.
In the attachment, please notice that there is a required camp that will occur the week following the end of the school year (06/05-06/09) in addition to our regular summer band camp.
Monday morning rehearsals have been changed to Monday afternoon (5:30 PM – 7:30 PM). This will allow for the program to practice the UIL allowed 8 hours, provide students with an option for a morning tutoring time and do a group homework time from 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM to help ALL students pass their classes. Also, doctor appointments (if possible) will be able to be made on this morning so that students do not have to miss rehearsals. All athletics programs will be releasing students early to attend band rehearsals and there will be a plan for all Boy Scouts as well.
The marching show is currently being written as we speak. The show and uniforms will be unveiled at the Golden Eagle Band Orientation on April 29th!
Solo and Ensemble Accompanist Rehearsals Start THIS Week
Please see sent email from Mr. McKinney regarding all RISD Chamber Music Festival details. All rehearsal times have posted in the front of the band hall; please arrive on time and be prepared on your music. DO NOT make your accompanist wait on you.
