TWIGEB (04/22/18-04/28/18)

Hello GEB,

Below you will find the details for this week (04/22/18-04/28/18). Remember to always check richardsonband.org for the most updated schedule.

UIL Recap

All four of our concert ensembles (Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Symphonic Winds, Wind Symphony) performed beautifully at UIL! The top three ensembles received straight superior ratings from all 6 of the judges (being the ONLY 6A program to earn these ratings in the entire region). Furthermore, the concert band performed at UIL for the first time in Richardson High School history and earned straight superior ratings on stage!

With these ratings (along with the ones received for the marching band), the Richardson High School Band is once again considered a SWEEPSTAKES recipient program!

In addition, thank you to all of the students and parents for running such a smooth contest; we hosted a total 46 bands – outstanding job!

Spring Trip Recap

We just arrived! Everyone had a blast and we are all back home safely. Thank you to our seven wonderful chaperones who went above and beyond to help these past few days – the directors really appreciate you! From a performance perspective, the GEB competed at the highest level at the Director’s Choice Contest!

  • Concert/Symphonic Band/Symphonic Winds received SUPERIOR RATINGS and OUTSTANDING IN CLASS.
  • Wind Symphony received SUPERIOR RATINGS, OUTSTANDING IN CLASS and OVERALL OUTSTANDING.

Thank you students for a great trip – I hope that you all enjoyed it!

STUDENTS – PLAN YOUR VACATIONS, JOB SCHEDULES, DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS AND SUMMER CLASSES AROUND THE BAND SCHEDULE.

Students who fail to attend/show up late to all camps, are unprepared musically/physically for the activity or are a distraction to others during rehearsals will not be placed in a marching spot, regardless of grade level, ensemble placement or experience. This also includes grades (and grade history). A student can be removed at any point in the season should any of these items occur.

Thank you,

Mr. Marquez
