Lucas Havelaar is proud to serve as Assistant Band Director at Richardson High School. His Duties include conducting the Symphonic Winds band, assisting with the Golden Eagle Marching Band, and teaching beginner classes throughout the cluster.

Mr. Havelaar is a graduate of Oklahoma State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in music education. While at OSU Mr. Havelaar studied with Lanette Compton, participating in the OSU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Horn Choir, and the Cowboy marching band.  Mr. Havelaar completed his student teaching at Union High School, Union 6th & 7th grade center, and the Union 8th grade center in Tulsa OK.

Mr. Havelaar’s experience includes being the assistant band director at Tivy High School in Kerrville TX for the last four years. While at Tivy his responsibilities included leading high brass and combined brass sectionals, teaching the symphonic band, jazz band, assisting with the Tivy wind ensemble, marching band, and teaching beginner French horn classes.

Mr. Havelaar is originally from Richardson and is a graduate of Berkner High School. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Band Masters Association, The International Horn Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia
