This is a big week for the GEB! Wednesday is UIL day, Friday is our final away game, and Saturday is our next regional marching contest. Parents: Please take a moment to review and sign up for a volunteer shift. This week requires the most volunteer hours to date, and we need those spots filled in order to make everything work this week.

More Details…

Region 20 UIL Marching Evaluation
UIL is the governing body for all fine arts in the state of Texas. Every band program goes to UIL to be evaluated in marching band and concert band each year. This is sort of like the STAAR test for fine arts groups in that we are measured against a standard curriculum requirement. The RHS Golden Eagle Band has a long history of Superior Ratings at UIL, and we look to continue that tradition on UIL day! Click HERE for the full itinerary.
Parents: Click HERE to volunteer for UIL. Please consider pitching in…even if you’ve never done it before.
Friday, October 22
Varsity Football – RHS @ Irving MacArthur

Duncanville Marching Invitational
Our next regional competition will take place at Duncanville High School. This contest has twice as many bands in competition as the number who competed at Plano East Marching Invitational. Click HERE for the full itinerary.

Looking Ahead…
Saturday, October 30
UIL Area B Marching Contest
All bands who earn a first division at the region level on October 20 will advance to the Area B Marching Contest. This is a prelims/finals event that will last all day and night long. Advancing to Area and/or advancing to Area Finals is a really big deal! The full itinerary will be published after UIL.
Friday, November 5
Senior Night @ Varsity Football Game – Jesuit @ RHS
We will recognize the band seniors at our final home game of the season. Line-up for escorts will be at 6:15pm at the south end of the track to walk through the tunnel. Seniors will be presented in alphabetical order by last name. The order will be Band, Eaglettes, Eagle Guard, and then Desperados Seniors. Typically, parents escort their senior but any two grown-ups who are meaningful to that student may escort (teacher, aunt etc.). It does not have to be 2, and yes you can walk without an escort.
Let’s make it a great week!
