Percussion Solo Recital/RISD Guard Showcase #2 Recap
The percussion students did a fantastic job at the their solo recital! Also, our guard students had another great run the RISD Guard Showcase at Lake Highlands High School!
Pre-UIL Dress Rehearsals Continue
Monday, March 22 – Wind Symphony (Marquez) – 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM (screening starts at 5:00 PM). Location: Auditorium
Tuesday, March 23 – Symphonic Band (Reyna) – 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (screening starts at 4:30 PM). Location: Auditorium

Friendly Reminder – Start Gathering Concert Black Items
In order to avoid distributing concert wear (just as we did with marching uniforms), we will be wearing concert black for our Pre-UIL and UIL concerts that occur in late March/April. If you do not already own black dress clothes (i.e. black button dress shirt, black dress pants, black appropriate dresses, black long socks, black close-toed shoes), please start gathering these items. If this will cause an issue due to financial constraints, please let Mr. Marquez know (jesus.marquez@risd.org). Please have these items prior to March 31st.
Summer Band Schedule Released!
Now that Richardson ISD has adopted a calendar for the 2021-2022 school year, we wanted to provide you with information regarding our summer band camps! Our first marching band event will be the Golden Eagle Band Orientation on Saturday April 10th! Please see attachment for schedule (page 1/2). Please note that all events are required for current 8th-11th graders. Students will be screened upon arrival, wear masks, apply hand sanitizer and follow social distancing rules.
For those interested in trying out for a leadership position, there will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, April 7th from 4:45 PM – 6:00 PM in the auditorium.
Also – per UIL rules, all students in the program are required to have a physical examination and medical history form on file. This physical examination and medical history form must be completed before our full band camp that starts on Wednesday, July 28th, but it would be preferred if it was completed before our June Mini Camp. You can go through your primary care doctor (with insurance) OR CareNow who is providing physical examinations (for $20) starting April 1st – https://www.carenow.com/patient-services/medical-tests/sports-physical.dot. Please see attachment (page 3/4).
