Marching Band Season Recap
Thank you to all of the students and parents for a wonderful marching season! Special thanks goes to the seniors who have given 4 years of dedication to the program – we truly appreciate you! The GEB had beautiful performances and finished off the year with the following recognitions:
Little Elm Classic on the Lake Marching Contest – 4th place
Desoto Classic Marching Contest – 3rd place
Region 3 UIL Marching Contest – straight superior ratings

TMEA 9th Grade All-Region Results

It was a great day for the GEB at the 9th Grade All-Region Auditions! Thank you to all of the freshmen who represented RHS and performed this past Saturday.

RHS tied for the 3rd most placed students in the entire region, which consists of 20 high schools! The Region Band Clinic and Concert will be on January 18 and 19 at Forney HS/North Forney HS (details to come in the spring semester)

Cookie Dough Delivery Date 11/16/17

Thank you to all who participated in our cookie dough fundraiser last month. Delivery for it will be on Thursday, November 16th. All students MUST pick up their cookie dough orders after school on this day as we do not have a place to refrigerate it.

TMEA Jazz All-Region Band Clinic and Concert 11/16/17 and 11/18/17

If you are one of the students who placed in the All-Region Jazz Band, please see details below regarding the clinic and concert this week:

Date: Thursday, November 16th and Saturday, November 18th
Location: North Mesquite High School Auditorium and Band Hall

Time: 11/16/17 – 5:00 PM-9:00 PM
11/18/17 – 9:00 AM-4:00 PM then concert is 7:00 PM-8:30 PM

*transportation is on your own for this event. If concert wear wear is back from alterations, you will need to take your tuxedo/dress Friday after school. If not, please wear concert black

Lone Star Classic Drumline Competition 11/18/17

Good luck to our battery and front ensemble students as they compete in the Lone Star Classic Competition this Saturday. Details for this event will be sent directly to these students by Mr. Schmuck.

Also, please remember that concert percussion auditions are occurring this week (Wednesday/Thursday).

Lone Star Youth Winds 11/19/17

Please see attached flyer including information regarding the Lone Star Youth Winds. Auditions will be held on Sunday, November 19 at J.J. Pearce High School.  The application form can be found on our website at lswo.com/youth-winds and the deadline to apply is November 15.  Specific audition times will be emailed directly to the students. Now that marching season is almost over,

The 2017-2018 LSYW Concert Season features:

• Composer-in-Residence, Julie Giroux
• Collaborate with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra
• Perform under Dr. Isaiah Odajima (Associate Director of Bands, Baylor University) and Mr. Tim Linley (Executive Director of Visual and Performing Arts, Dallas ISD)
• Opportunity to Solo with the Lone Star Youth Winds as a concerto contest winner.
• Two concerts:  March 4 at the Meyerson Symphony Center and May 13, location TBA.

The Lone Star Youth Winds is made up of 80 brass, woodwind and percussion students chosen from the most talented students in the DFW area!

Last year, Richardson High School had 9 students be a part of this AMAZING group! Furthermore, we have had the concerto winner and scholarship winner the last two years (Christopher Finch 2016-2017, Austin Townsend 2015-2016)
The audition material is your all-region music; rehearsals occur on Sunday afternoons. Tuition is $425 BUT aide is available! I hope that you all consider auditioning.

Please let Mr. Marquez know if you are interested as he must fill out the recommendation letter.
