After lightning delays, a prelims performance, and a finals performance under the lights, the GEB came in 5th place at the Plano East Marching Invitational. After looking at the numbers from prelims and finals, I\u2019m excited to announce that <strong><em>we moved up from 6th place in prelims to 5th place in finals!<\/em><\/strong> Through all the things that were going on yesterday, we managed to have a measurably better show at the end of the day than what we first presented in the afternoon. After that night, RISD has a 4 day weekend for students. However, don\u2019t forget to make your weekend plans to where you will be available for the Special Marching Band Rehearsal Monday morning to get ready for UIL. (See below\u2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.signupgenius.com\/go\/10c0d45aca728a64-volunteers18\">HERE<\/a> to volunteer for this week\u2019s Thursday away game at Wildcat Ram Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking Ahead&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Monday, October 11<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Special Marching Band Rehearsal &#8211; 8:30-11:30am<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The weekend before UIL Region 20 Marching Contest, there is no school on Friday and Monday. In addition, on the day of UIL, there will be a PSAT administration on campus that includes many band students. Therefore, we can\u2019t rehearse Wednesday morning on the day of UIL. Because of these rehearsal constraints, we have a special morning marching rehearsal on Monday, October 11. There is no school this day, but this rehearsal <strong><em>is required<\/em><\/strong> and it is an integral part of our success at UIL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note: This <strong><em>is not a change<\/em><\/strong> to the original published calendar from last May. I simply want to draw your attention to this date because of the circumstances surrounding it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wednesday, October 13<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Region 20 UIL Marching Evaluation<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UIL is the governing body for all fine arts in the state of Texas. Every band program goes to UIL to be evaluated in marching band and concert band each year. This is sort of like the STAAR test for fine arts groups in that we are measured against a standard curriculum requirement. The RHS Golden Eagle Band has a long history of Superior Ratings at UIL, and we look to continue that tradition on UIL day! This contest has twice as many bands in competition as the number who competed at Plano East Marching Invitational.
