There are many things to be excited about in the Golden Eagle Band:<\/p>\n
220\/221 of the students passed every one of their non-exempt classes!
\nWe met our March-a-thon fundraising goal of 30K!
\nWe have marked every set in the show!
\nWe earned 4th place at the Little Elm Classic on the Lake Marching Contest!<\/p>\n

\nThe sixth football game of the year is this Thursday, October 11th and its an AWAY game! As always, full details can be found on the Official Band Calendar at www.richardsonband.org.
\nWhen the bell rings to release school, dinner will be served in the Eagles Nest for those who signed up for the meal plan. Please note that this is only for those who signed up for the Football Game meal plan.<\/p>\n

Inspection Lines<\/p>\n
Call time for students to meet in inspection lines is 5:15 PM (Band Hall). If a student fails inspection, the student will report to Mr. Marquez after the football game and will be assigned duties for the band during that time.<\/p>\n
FULL UNIFORM: GEB Compression Shirt, GEB black athletic shorts, LONG black socks and marching shoes. Guard – Show Uniform<\/p>\n
The game will end around 10:30 PM (estimate). As always, we will send out a message through Twitter announcing that we are on our way home. This will also show up on the GEB website Twitter feed.<\/p>\n
Upon return, everyone will hang their uniform CORRECTLY and place shoes in the shoe rack outside of the uniform room. Once this is complete you may head over to the optional after party. Please see below for details.<\/p>\n
Parents – As always we will NEED many volunteers for the football game. Mrs. Forssell will be sending out information so be on the look out and sign-up!<\/p>\n
Desoto Marching Classic Competition 10\/13\/18<\/p>\n
Our second contest of the season is coming up on Saturday, October 13th at the Desoto Marching Classic Competition. Below is ALL the information you\u2019ll need for the day:<\/p>\n

9:00am: Call Time
\n9:15am: Rehearsal at Eagle Stadium
\n11:15am: Rehearsal ends, load trucks
\n11:30am: Lunch
\n12:20pm: Change into uniform
\n12:45pm: Inspection
\n1:00pm: Depart for Desoto
\n2:00pm: Arrive at Desoto\/Check In
\n3:25pm: Warm-up
\n4:15pm: Prelims Performance
\n5:15pm: Finals announced<\/p>\n
The Desoto Marching Classic on the Lake Marching Contest is a Prelims\/Finals format contest. If we advance to finals, we will not know what time we perform until 5:30pm or so. Dinner will be provided to all of the students.<\/p>\n
7:00pm: Finals Begin
\n10:00pm: Final Results
\n11:45pm: Expected ETA at RHS. Brief meeting then dismissal.<\/p>\n
*should we not make finals, we may be returning sooner. A message through TWTTER will be sent out when we are on our way home.<\/p>\n
Parent Info<\/p>\n
If you are a parent who is not chaperoning\/helping on the field, we NEED you in the stands supporting the band. The location of the contest is:<\/p>\n

Friendly reminder of how this works: when the band enters the field and the announcer calls our name, we need a fleet of parents in the stands cheering and going NUTS for the kids. This is all part of the competition! It sends a message to the judges that\u2026 \u201chey, you really need to pay attention to this band!\u201d While we have many parents already traveling with the band as volunteers, they will be down on the field helping with equipment. Come out and see what your kids have been toiling away for because trust me, the football games have just been a preview of the contest show.<\/p>\n
Parking is free. Admission to the contest is $10.00 for spectators, $5.00 for children under 12 and infants\/toddles are free. For our volunteers, Desoto only provides us with a set number of total volunteer passes. This means that you should be prepared to pay the $10.00 entry fee just incase we don\u2019t have enough to cover everyone.\u00a0While I know that this can be frustrating, keep in mind that this is a very important fundraiser for the DHS Band which is why they need to charge admission.<\/p>\n
Student Info<\/p>\n
You are going to need to bring a good number of items with you on Saturday. Pay careful attention as we\u2019ll have several different \u201coutfits\u201d for the day.
\nWhen you arrive in the morning, you\u2019ll need to be wearing:
\n\u2022 Compression Shirt (you may wear your Danza de la Rosa shirt on top)
\n\u2022 GEB Black Athletic shorts
\n\u2022 Long black socks (MUST HAVE)
\nYou\u2019ll need to bring a duffle bag\/back pack. Inside your duffle\/backpack, you\u2019ll need our \u201cstands uniform\u201d which will be:
\n\u2022 Danza de La Rosa Show Shirt
\n\u2022 Shorts\/jeans (school appropriate) and sweater (in case it gets cold)
\nYou\u2019ll come at 9:00am, drop your items off in the locker room, grab your instrument and head to the stadium. You should be in the block by 9:15am.<\/p>\n
After rehearsal concludes at 11:15am, you will begin to load up the trucks (props, percussion, low reeds\/low brass, etc.). Lunch will be served starting at 11:30am. Once you have eaten, you will head to the uniform room and put on your full uniform. You should be changing into full uniform no later than 12:20pm. Inspection is at 12:45pm \u2013 At inspection, we\u2019ll be dressed in and will have:
\n\u2022 Compression Shirt\/GEB Black Shorts (under uniform)
\n\u2022 Long black socks (under uniform)
\n\u2022 Full Contest Uniform (including gloves)
\n\u2022 Marching Shoes
\n\u2022 Instrument in case (for winds that did not place on truck)
\n\u2022 Duffle bag\/backpack (with your stands uniform inside: jeans\/shorts that are school appropriate, Danza de La Rosa shirt, sweater and tennis shoes)<\/p>\n
At 1:00pm, we\u2019ll load buses and head to Desoto. Upon our arrival, you\u2019ll get all the instructions you\u2019ll need.<\/p>\n
After our prelims performance, we will hear if we will be advancing to finals. Everyone will receive dinner via the contest meal plan between prelims and finals OR after finals. You may want to bring additional money for\u00a0souvenirs\u00a0and\/or concession stand goodies (if there is time).<\/p>\n
This will be a long day so make sure you\u2019re resting up throughout the week!<\/p>\n
*students who are academically ineligible may not (by state law) be anywhere near the band during the contest. This includes but not limited to: traveling, sitting or eating (contest meals) with the band. Failure to abide by this rule could result is loss of UIL status for the entire program.<\/p>\n
