Students – have you completed ALL of your school assignments this week? If not, stop what you are doing and get your school work done! Remember NO ZEROS.<\/p>\n
Random information:<\/p>\n
With 225 students in the program, we want prevent the spread of any viruses or sicknesses as much as we can this season.<\/p>\n
Parents – please have your child start taking Vitamin C and drinking orange juice\/lemon water daily (if possible). Flu shots are also HIGHLY recommended.<\/p>\n
Students – please remember to wash your hands and\/or use hand sanitizer periodically. Also, only drink water from YOUR water bottle.<\/p>\n
Movement I Pass-offs Start Monday
\nWind players – as discussed this past week, we will be passing-off Movement I starting Monday, August 27th. Please practice your music and visuals the way we have rehearsed it. The click track emailed to you. You must pass it off with a 100 by Thursday, August 30th.<\/p>\n
Marching Band Item Distribution
\nStudents – you will be receiving purchased items this week (specifically your GEB black shorts).
\nLeadership – please be available to help organize and distribute items. More details to come.<\/p>\n
Friday Morning Rehearsal\/Drill Team Information
\nEach week on game days, we will rehearse in the STADIUM. The Eaglettes will also join us on this day. This is especially important to note because ALL woodwinds, brass and drumline students must remember to bring their flip folder stuffed with this week\u2019s drill team tune (which happens to be We Got The Beat).<\/p>\n
Richardson vs Nimitz (Away)
\nSTUDENTS – ITS GAME DAY! AFTER REHEARSAL ON FRIDAY MORNING, MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR DANZA DE LA ROSA T-SHIRT DURING SCHOOL. LETS SHOW EVERYONE OUR PRIDE AND GOLDEN EAGLE BAND SPIRIT!<\/p>\n
The first football game of the year is this Friday, August 31st and its an AWAY game! As always, full details can be found on the Official Band Calendar at www.richardsonband.org.<\/p>\n
When the bell rings to release school, dinner will be served in the Eagles Nest. Please note that this is only for those who signed up for the Football Game Meal Plan. It will be a fast turn around, so you must move quickly! The schedule for the night is below. Please note that we\u2019ll be wearing the Summer Uniform this week.<\/p>\n

Inspection Lines<\/p>\n
Call time for students to meet in inspection lines is 5:00 PM (Band Hall). The purpose of inspection lines is to make sure students are READY with everything that they need.<\/p>\n
If a student fails inspection, the student will report to Mr. Marquez after a football game and will be assigned duties for the band during that time. A student will fail inspection if he\/she:<\/p>\n
shows up late
\nwears the wrong attire
\nis missing uniform items
\nis missing instrument (and parts of instrument)
\nhas a non-clean, fully functioning working instrument
\nis missing a lyre\/flip folder
\nis lacking a filled water bottle (water only)
\nwears make-up\/nail polish
\nwears jewelry (religious affiliation allowed)
\nhas an unnatural hair color
\nhas the incorrect \u201cshow hair\u201d
\nis not clean-shaven (boys)
\ntalks
\nhangs uniform incorrectly (after games\/competitions)<\/p>\n
*these rules are in place to allow for students to look uniformed, help us with the maintenance of the uniforms and disseminate information efficiently.<\/p>\n
We should be returning around 11:15 PM (EST). I will send out a message through Twitter announcing that we are on our way home. This will also show up on the GEB website Twitter feed.
\nUpon return, everyone will turn in their shoes and place them in the shoe rack outside of the uniform room.<\/p>\n
Parents – we will NEED many volunteers for the football game. Mrs. Forssell will be sending out information so be on the look out and sign-up!<\/p>\n
March-a-thon<\/p>\n
This is your friendly reminder that in order to help raise money to support the band, ALL Golden Eagle Band members will participate in our annual 5K March-a-thon on September 29th. We will march and play through the Richardson High School neighborhood!<\/p>\n
To help maintain the LOWEST BAND FEES IN THE ENTIRE REGION, provide scholarships, hire some of the best marching band arrangers\/drill writers, etc., we ask that EVERY Golden Eagle Band member obtain a minimum of $250 in pledges. We are also soliciting donations from our RHS neighbors AND local businesses. We hope all of our RHS neighbors will come out and support the band. The band will also be accepting donations the morning of the event.<\/p>\n
Donation details: The band accepts cash and checks made payable to the Richardson Area Band Club (RABC).<\/p>\n
If someone does not live in the area, they can donate by sending it to P. O. Box 832919, Richardson TX 75083-2919.<\/p>\n
Parents\/Students: Please click on the links below (packet, individual files, sign up genius) for all details. Remember you must secure $250. Students should place all donations in the band safe (located by director\u2019s offices) at any time before September 10th. Receipt and company logos (in vector format) are to be sent to marchathon@richardsonband.org by\u00a0September 10th\u00a0for placement on the t-shirt. Again, please make checks payable to RABC.<\/p>\n
