\nRemember that you must be passing ALL of your classes by Friday, September 29th to be eligible to participate in any band activity.
\nFriday Morning Rehearsal\/Drill Team Information
\nAs a reminder on game days, we will rehearse in the STADIUM. ALL woodwinds, brass and drumline students must bring their flip folder stuffed with this week\u2019s drill team tune (Any Way You Want It). Anyone who forgets his\/her flip folder and drill team tune at this rehearsal will automatically fail inspection for the week, so make sure you remember!

\nSTUDENTS – IT\u2019S GAME DAY! AFTER REHEARSAL ON FRIDAY, MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR PURPLE DRI-FIT TO SCHOOL AND SHOW YOUR GOLDEN EAGLE BAND SPIRIT!
\nThe first HOME football game of the year is coming up this Friday night! As always, full details can be found on the Official Band Calendar at www.richardsonband.org. Since it\u2019s the first home game, we\u2019ll also detail them here via email.
\nWhen the bell rings to release school, dinner will be served in the Eagles Nest for those who signed up for the meal plan. Please note that this is only for those who signed up for the Football Game meal plan. We will be wearing the Summer Uniform again this week.
\nHome Games: Freshman students\/parents, you might be asking yourself…what\u2019s different with home games vs. away games? Well two main things: tailgate and after parties.
\nTailgate occurs at 6:30pm in the parking lot just outside the band hall and is a mini pep-rally involving the band, cheer leaders, and Eaglettes. Directly following the tailgate, the band marches into the stadium and enters the stands. Any and all Eagle fans are invited!
\nAfter Parties are hosted by the various classes of the band (Seniors, Juniors, etc) and take place in the Eagles Nest after home games. These are events for the entire band family to celebrate our hard work and outstanding performance. They last for 1 hour after the band is released from the stands after which, the band hall is closed and all students must be picked up. We\u2019ll send out a Twitter message letting everyone know what time the Band Hall will close for the evening which can be viewed via the Twitter feed or at www.richardsonband.org.

A student will fail inspection if he\/she:<\/p>\n
shows up late
\nwears the wrong attire
\nis missing uniform items
\nis missing instrument (and parts of instrument)
\nhas a unclean and not fully functioning working instrument
\nis missing a lyre\/flip folder
\nis lacking a filled water bottle (water only)
\nwears make-up\/nail polish
\nwears jewelry (religious affiliation allowed)
\nhas an unnatural hair color (blue, green, etc.)
\nhas the incorrect \u201cshow hair\u201d
\nis not clean-shaven (boys)
\ntalks<\/p>\n
After the game, everyone will turn in their shoes and place them on shoe hangers in the uniform room.<\/p>\n
Parents – we will need MANY volunteers for the football game. Mrs. Forssell will be sending out information so be on the look out and sign-up!<\/p>\n
March-a-thon Donations DUE – 09\/13\/17<\/p>\n
We are currently at $17,000! However, we must get $6,000 to match last year\u2019s donations. Cash and check donations are due this week – \u00a0September 13th!<\/p>\n
Sponsor t-shirts – each sponsor will receive a t-shirt that includes their logo.\u00a0 Please try to get a t-shirt size from your sponsor(s) and email that information to Mrs. Hartigan (txhart@sbcglobal.net).\u00a0 We will order adult size large as the default, if we don’t get their size info. If you pre-ordered a March-A-Thon t-shirt at the Fall Premiere but did not pay, please send in your cash or check in a labeled envelope and place in the band safe.<\/p>\n
Donation details: The band accepts cash and checks made payable to the Richardson Area Band Club (RABC). Please place money in the band safe. Remember to label the envelope with your name.<\/p>\n
March-a-thon 09\/16\/17
\nDetails for the day:
\nYou will arrive dressed in the March-a-thon T-Shirt (which will be distributed in classes this week), GEB black athletic shorts, black ANKLE socks, and tennis shoes. You will NOT wear your marching shoes as they are not designed to take a 5K concrete beating. At inspection, you\u2019ll be checked for the following:
\nCorrect uniform (see above)
\nFlip folder
\nLyre
\nInstrument (polished, working order, good reed, etc)<\/p>\n
*bottled water will be provided throughout the day. You will NOT need to bring your GEB water bottles.<\/p>\n
Inspection will be promptly at 8:15am. After inspection, we\u2019ll line up in the parade block out by Dogwood and step off right at 9:00am. We perform the first leg of the MAT by marching over to Waterview, then back to the high school for a short break. The second leg takes us over to Cottonwood and then back to the high school. The 5K march should last from 9:00am to roughly 12:00pm-12:30ish. After the march, we\u2019ll put instruments away and enjoy some outstanding snacks to celebrate the end of another successful March-a-thon!
\nWe anticipate that students will be ready for pickup by 12:45pm. We\u2019ll keep everyone updated throughout the day via the GEB twitter feed. Follow us at @RHSGEB!
\nTMEA All-Region Music FREE Clinic Opportunities
\nSouthern Methodist University (SMU) will be doing a FREE clinic from 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM for bassoon, saxophone and trombone (11th-12th grade ONLY) on the All-Region music (area\/state) on Saturday, September 16th. Please click the link below for information regarding times, location, required materials and how to register. Only 25 spots will be available for each instrument, so sign-up ASAP! Just think of all of the fun on this day – GEB March-A-Thon in the morning and All-Region clinic in the afternoon!
