\nChamber Music Festival Recap<\/p>\n
RHS represented extremely well this past Saturday at the RISD Chamber Music Festival! 239 1st division patches were awarded; in addition, 38 of these were honors!<\/p>\n
Concerto Competition Prelims Sign-up<\/p>\n
Richardson High School is proudly to present the Howard Dunn Richardson Area Concerto Competition! This is an event that gives students an opportunity to perform a solo which exhibits both their musicianship and training.<\/p>\n
Students will be divided into one of three divisions: 7th\/8th grade, 9th\/10th grade, or 11th\/12th grade. Three winners from each division will receive a band department scholarship. There must be a minimum of three entries for each of the high school divisions, otherwise, there will only be one division of 9th-12th grade. A sign-up sheet will located at the front of the band hall THIS week.<\/p>\n
Prizes<\/p>\n
1st place- $ 100.00
\n2nd place- $ 75.00
\n3rd place- $ 50.00<\/p>\n
Eligibility and Rules<\/p>\n
\u2022 Entrants must have performed at the RISD Chamber Music Festival and received an honors\/1st division rating or have director permission.
\n\u2022 Entrants must supply their own accompanist. Accompanists are optional for prelims but REQUIRED for finals with pieces that have an accompaniment.
\n\u2022 Entrants may perform a minimum of one movement of a multi-movement work or a short concert piece.
\n\u2022 Entrants must supply TWO copies of the solo work to Mr. Reyna\u2019s box by Thursday, March 2nd.
\n\u2022 Performance time should not exceed ten (10) minutes.<\/p>\n
Preliminary performances will take place on Wednesday, March 8th in the RHS band hall starting at 4:30 PM.<\/p>\n
Interested students may play pieces performed at the Chamber Music Festival or a recital.<\/p>\n
Finals performance will take place in the Richardson H.S auditorium on Thursday, March 9th. The start time will be communicated after the prelims are completed.<\/p>\n
