Please note one important exception below:<\/p>\n<p>Friday, October 7th: 8:00am &#8211; 11:00am. There is no school on this day but there is rehearsal in the morning and a game that evening. We will also be hosting the UT Longhorn Band from 3:00pm-5:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Our first marching competition (Desoto Marching Classic) is on Saturday, October 8th!<br \/>\nAlways have your dot book, pencil and instrument at every scheduled morning rehearsal!<\/p>\n<p>THE GOAL IS TO LEARN 18 SETS THIS WEEK! CONTINUE TO PRACTICE MOVEMENT III.<\/p>\n<p>School Grades<\/p>\n<p>Students and parents &#8211; make sure to be checking grades on FOCUS. RISD policy states that teachers are to put grades into the grade book 3 days after assignments have been turned in for minor grades and 5 for major. While the district is on a 9-week cycle (report card released), eligibility for marching band is still on a 6-week cycle. Students, please turn in all your assignments. Remember NO zeros!<\/p>\n<p>Pass-offs<\/p>\n<p>Wind players will be passing off movement II this week! Please practice the music and all visuals with the UPDATED click track attached.<\/p>\n<p>Meet the Teacher\/Open House 09\/13\/16<\/p>\n<p>Meet the teacher\/Open House is on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. The evening kicks off with a PTA meeting starting at 6:00pm in the auditorium. Then at 7pm, you\u2019ll be ushered through your student\u2019s school day, following their bell schedule. This means, that you\u2019ll come and visit us in the band hall during the designated period of the day that your student has band.<\/p>\n<p>Wind Symphony &#8211; 1st Period (all percussion)<\/p>\n<p>Colorguard &#8211; 2nd Period<\/p>\n<p>Symphonic Winds &#8211; 3rd Period<\/p>\n<p>Symphonic Band &#8211; 4th Period<\/p>\n<p>Concert Band &#8211; 5th Period<\/p>\n<p>AP Music Theory &#8211; 6th Period<\/p>\n<p>Jazz Band &#8211; 7th Period<br \/>\nGuard parents, Ms. Maldonado may or may not be here at that time but you\u2019re welcome to drop by during 2nd period to say hello to one of us.<\/p>\n<p>No Game THIS week<\/p>\n<p>Band Fees &#8211; First Installment Due 09\/15\/16<\/p>\n<p>If you signed a promissory note during band registration, the first payment is due to the safe by 5:00 pm on September 15, 2016.<br \/>\nMarch-a-thon Help 09\/16\/16<\/p>\n<p>Section leaders, please remember that we will be placing door hangers on the houses along the route to advertise the upcoming March-a-thon event. The more advertising we can do, the more money we can raise on September 24th!<\/p>\n<p>We will meet in the band hall @ 4:15 pm and should be done by 5:15 pm at the latest!<\/p>\n<p>TMEA All-Region Music Free Clinic Opportunities 09\/17\/16<\/p>\n<p>The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) will be doing FREE 90 minute clinics for all instruments on the All-Region music (area\/state) on Saturday, September 17th. More details to come regarding this event will be sent out next week.<br \/>\nTMEA All-Region Music Free Clinic Opportunities 09\/24\/16<br \/>\nSouthern Methodist University (SMU) will be doing a FREE clinic starting at 3:30 PM &#8211; 6:30 PM for all instruments on the All-Region music (area\/state) on Saturday, September 24th. FREE PIZZA! Please see link below for information regarding times, location, required materials and how to register. There will also be a symphony orchestra concert starting at 7:30 PM.
