Chamber Music Festival Recap
RHS represented extremely well this past Saturday at the RISD Chamber Music Festival! 259 1st division ratings were awarded!
Concerto Competition Prelims Sign-up THIS WEEK
Richardson High School is proudly to present the Howard Dunn Richardson Area Concerto Competition! This is an event that gives students an opportunity to perform a solo which exhibits both their musicianship and training.
Students will be divided into one of two divisions:
9th/10th grade
11th/12th grade
Three winners from each division will receive a band department scholarship. There must be a minimum of three entries for each of the high school divisions, otherwise, there will only be one division of 9th-12th grade. A sign-up sheet will located at the front of the band hall THIS week.
In addition, one winner from the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Winds will be awarded a certificate of recognition.
Prizes
1st place- $100.00
2nd place- $75.00
3rd place- $50.00
Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Winds winners – $50.00
Eligibility and Rules
• Entrants must have performed at the RISD Chamber Music Festival and received an honors/1st division rating or have director permission.
• Entrants must supply their own accompanist. Accompanists are optional for prelims but REQUIRED for finals with pieces that have an accompaniment.
• Entrants may perform a minimum of one movement of a multi-movement work or a short concert piece.
• Entrants must supply TWO photocopies of the solo work to Mr. Reyna’s box by Thursday, March 1st.
• Performance time should not exceed ten (10) minutes.
• Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Symphonic Winds winners will have the option to perform at Finals.
Preliminary performances will take place on Tuesday, March 6th in the RHS band hall starting at 4:30 PM.
Finals performance will take place in the Richardson HS auditorium on Thursday, March 8th. The start time will be communicated after the prelims are completed.
TCU Wind Symphony Performance (03/02/18)
The Golden Eagle Band will be hosting the TCU Wind Symphony on Friday, March 2nd in preparation for the American Bandmasters Association 84th Annual Convention! All band students (excluding guard members) will be blocked for 5th and 6th period.
Winterguard Competition 03/03/18
The next winterguard competition is coming up this Saturday (March 3rd) at Wakeland High School.
Performance Schedule:
JV – 1:30 PM and Varsity 4:45 PM.
