RHS Band Takes Top Honors at UIL

The RHS Band performed at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest on Wednesday, April 18th. This year, we entered with two concert bands: The Symphonic Band, conducted by Mr. Garlinger and The Symphonic Winds, conducted by Mr. Linley.

It was a HUGE day for the RHS Bands as both groups walked away with the contest’s top honor: the UIL Sweepstakes award. This happens when a band makes a 1st division (Superior) in both the Concert and Sight Reading portions of the contest. This marks the first time since 2008 that both RHS Concert Bands have earned the coveted UIL Sweepstakes award.

As a result of this, comes an even greater honor. Since the RHS Band has earned 1st division ratings in Marching, Concert and Sight Reading, it has been named a UIL Sweepstakes program.

We could not be more proud of the students for their fantastic work, not only with regards to their performances at the contest, but also in the HIGHLY professional manner with which they hosted. A class act, ladies and gentlemen!
